Among these, the U300BL toughened glass suspension insulator stands out as a critical defense against structural mechanical failure and electrical line grounding. The code U300BL designates a minimum mechanical failing load of 300 kN, coupled with a socket connection according to international standards (typically IEC 60120 size 24). This heavy-duty rating is designed specifically for EHV (Extra-High Voltage) and UHV (Ultra-High Voltage) AC and DC overhead transmission lines where mechanical loading under ice, wind, and seismic events is exceptionally severe.
Toughened glass insulators are produced by melting a precise chemical composition of silica sand, soda ash, limestone, and feldspar. The melt is refined in high-temperature kilns—specifically our Total Oxygen Kiln—to eliminate microscopic gaseous inclusions and crystalline impurities that could induce electrical puncture or localized mechanical failure. After automated casting in the forming press, the glass shell undergoes a highly controlled thermal tempering process. Hot glass is rapidly cooled by blasts of cold air, which creates a permanent layer of compressive stress on the exterior surface, balanced by tensile stress in the interior core.
